Mrs. Teresa Sauls - Principal

Principal Teresa Sauls

Hello East Newton Family! I am Teresa Sauls, and I am honored to serve as the new principal for our school. I began my career in January of 1996 as a high school English teacher at Newnan High School in Coweta County. I moved to Newton County and began working as a Reading and English teacher at Cousins Middle School in the fall of 1996. I taught and coached there for ten years before moving on to teach high school English again at Alcovy High School when it opened. I then transitioned to become a graduation coach at Indian Creek Middle School in 2007. I became an Assistant Principal for the newly opened Clements Theme School in 2009, and then moved to become the Assistant Principal at West Newton Elementary in 2010 where I served for six years. In 2016, I transitioned to the Assistant Principal position at Mansfield Elementary School where I remained for seven years.

I enjoy time with my family, which includes my husband, Scott, our four children, Mallory, Madison, Caleb, and Cade, our two son-in-laws, Drew and Chris, and our granddaughters, Harley and Naomi. I believe in high expectations, exceptional instruction, and in building relationships and community. I am excited to get to know all of my students and families here at East Newton Elementary School!

Dr. Geri Hawkins - Assistant Principal

                                                        Dr. Hawkins

"Hello East Newton Families!" I am extremely happy to be a part of East Newton Elementary School with each of you! I look forward to building some great relationships and supporting the vision that is already established.

I have been told for many years, I have a natural ability to lead, and what better place to be able to LEAD than NCSS. The 2019-2020 school year is my fifteenth year as an Assistant Principal in the NCSS. This marks my 35th year in education. I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my job and being able to make a difference in the life of students, teachers and this great community.

I believe that building solid relationships/ partnerships between school, students, parents, and the community is key to building a strong school community and providing successful learning experiences.

I am a native of Newton County, with a family that goes back generations in the community. I attended school in NCSS at East Newton, Cousins, Ficquett, Sharp MS and Newton County High School. I count it all a blessing to be able to work in a school system that has given so much to me. I am coming home to East Newton where it all began. That is very exciting for me!

I am a graduate of Georgia Southwestern University, Piedmont College, and Capella University. I have two sons, Jamon and Taylor, both graduates of Newton High School. Jamon graduated from Georgia Southwestern University, my college Alma Mater in 2013, and Taylor graduated from Reinhardt University in May 2019. They are the wind beneath my wings. I am also the proud Gigi to London, and Josiah. Oh how they have recharged my life with so much happiness and gratitude.

One of my favorite leadership quotes:

“Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals.”
